
WISTA Norway & YoungShip er utrolig stolte over å lansere 2014-kullet av Maritime Meet-up (Oslo), mentorprogrammet for kvinnelige ledere og ledertalenter innen maritim næring. Årets kull er Oslos tredje, og det største og faglig tyngste kullet hittil. Programmet ble også lansert i Bergen for første gang tidligere i år. Satsningen er et samarbeid mellom YoungShip (næringens unge) og WISTA Norway (næringens kvinnelige ledere), og har som målsetning å gi unge ledere og ledertalenter økt kompetanse og motivasjon til å satse på en lederkarriere, gjennom tildeling av en dyktig mentor fra næringen. Vi har fokusert spesielt på områder med tradisjonelt lav andel kvinnelige ledere, som tekniske, kommersielle og operasjonelle fagfelt.
Statsminister Erna Solberg etterlyser flere kvinnelige ledere i næringslivet. Om hun tar tak i noen grunnleggende utfordringer knyttet til arbeidsgivere og foreldrepermisjon som bidrar til å tappe næringslivet for potensielle kvinnelige ledere, skal vi definitivt gjøre vårt og backe talentene våre slik at de både får motivasjonen, selvtilliten og noen av de faglige verktøyene som skal til for å satse på krevende lederkarrierer. Dette er bare starten!
Gjennomføring: Programmet løper over et kalenderår, med fire fysiske samlinger med relevante ledelsesfokus. For vårt kick-off i Norges Rederiforbund torsdag 4. september har vi vært så heldige å få inn Marianne Heien Blystad, som flere år på rad har ligget på listen over Norges 100 Mektigste Kvinner (kåres av Kapital). Blystad er forretningsadvokat og siviløkonom, og daglig leder i Songa Shipping. Gjennom flere tiår har hun sammen med sin mann bygget opp Blystad- og Songa-gruppen.

WISTA Norway & YoungShip are most proud of launching the 2014 class of Maritime Meet-up (Oslo), the mentorship program for female leaders and future leaders within the maritime industry. This group is the 3rd class in Oslo, and by far the largest group. The program was also launched in Bergen for the first time earlier this year. This initiative is a cooperation between YoungShip and WISTA Norway, and aims to provide young leaders and talents increased competence and motivation to pursue a management career, through providing them with a skilled and inspirational mentor from the industry. We have focused specifically on areas where the ratio of female leaders historically has been low, such as technical, commercial and operational fields.
The Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg, has emphasized the need for more female business leaders. It would be great if she and her government could do their part, through taking care of some basic challenges linked to employers´ behavior and parental leave that currently drains potential female leaders from business fields. We will definitely step it up on our part from the maritime industry, backing and pushing these talents to become bold, motivated and confident enough whilst providing some additional professional tools required for a demanding career. We´re just getting started!
Execution: The program runs for a year at a time, with four physical meetings that includes relevant leadership focus. For our kick-off in the Norwegian Shipowners Association Thursday 4 September, we have been extremely fortunate – as business lawyer & economist Marianne Heien Blystad have generously agreed to join us. Blystad has for several years figured in the leading Norwegian business magazine Kapital´s list of Norway´s 100 most powerful women. She is the General manager of Songa Shipping, and has for several decades built the development of the Blystad/Songa group with her husband.
Blystad holds several heavy board roles, including Export Finance and Opera Software. She is associated with the legal firm Ro Sommernes, and has previously worked for CitiBank, Spencer Finance, Bull & Co whilst having held board positions within Hydro and Awilco Offshore. Blystad will share her experiences on professional board work, with a specific focus on the roles within a board, concerns to address as independent/external board resource, relevant challenges based on her own experiences and pitfalls for inexperienced board members.
