In this blog, I reflect on a broad range of aspects related to my professional and personal experiences from within the global shipping industry, and as shipping activist, working for a sustainable and visible maritime industry. A range of perspectives from experiences as board resource, mentor, speaker and mother-of-two. The ideas and opinions described in this blog are strictly my own personal views, and do not represent the organisations I am affiliated with.

From 2015-2018, I served as the first female Director of Nor-Shipping. Then heading up the business program for Oslo as European Green Capital 2019, across 6 industries; Tech, Finance, Mobility, Real Estate, Energy & Ocean – before founding my own company, The Ocean Opportunity Lab (TOOL).

Today, I am entreprenur, board professional and investor, and occasional public speaker/author.

From the author: This is a blog set up to inspire young people who are either about to find their career path or already working in the maritime industry. It also aims to share insights and thoughts with industry colleagues, maritime students, and general visitors, as well as providing the opportunity to get inside of my thoughts and passions.

I am a “Jack of all trades” who entered shipping in 2006, and I write about my life and thoughts both related to shipping, sustainability, equality, entrepreneurship, leadership and to what I get enthusiastic or provoked about in the world. And I share my best travel experiences from across the 75 countries I’ve visited so far.

Occasionally, I also share some very personal experiences. I don’t take myself to seriously, known to be a bit unconventional; and recommend you to continue reading with an open mind.

During 2009-2012 I was the executive Chair of YoungShip. This is an NGO & non-profit organisation for young people in the maritime industry, facilitating network enhancement and competence development, and acting as a spokes organisation and promoter of the views & values of young maritime professionals towards the established (senior) organisations and actors. In 2011, I spear-headed the founding of YoungShip International, taking over the role as Secretary General, after handing over the Chair role as we established our international umbrella organisation. Leaving the organisation to take on my current role, YoungShip had during the 3 years grown to cover 18 branches in 12 countries across Asia, Middle-East, Africa, South-, Middle- and North America, and 6 European countries.

I also hold a number of board roles within private sector and organisations, and contribute with speeches and mentoring in various occasions and forums. The past years I have spoken at OECD, International Chamber of Shipping, CMA (Connecticut), the IMO (United Nation’s International Maritime Organization), and a variety of national and international forums both within and outside of the maritime industry. And I interviewed President Barack Obama on stage at Oslo Business Forum 2018.

This website covers most of my fields of interest; work, traveling, a globalized world, challenges, photo and people – often in a good mix..

Please note that this website contains my personal blog. These are my own views and comments, and not necessarily those of the organisations I serve as Chair or Board member.
